my weekend!

hey all,

woke up quite early to meet my cousins and got to be the first in line for le petit dejuner…an amazing breakfast spot on king st. e in toronto. despite them not carrying the strawberry banana soy smoothie mentioned in an article posted outside the restaurant anymore, breakfast was divine. was still having that craving so had the strawberry waffles (did i mention they taste like skyflakes?). you may want to order extra chantilly cream for your waffle because you need a dab for every single bite. upon my next visit, i’ll go a little crazier with my menu choice. they even serve dinner…yummsies!!

walking around after and seeing more of the scotiabank marathon, we realized how dumbsie toronto drivers can be. there was a HUGE NEON ORANGE sign saying “ROAD CLOSED”, but these dumsies obviously don’t read! i thought to myself, wow, a sign doesn’t do enough these days, people need an actual BARACADE before they realize the road is closed! i guess the police with his back turned, people running in marathon gear, line up of cars and honking drivers wasn’t enough for them to realize they should probably take another route. all i can say is wow. too bad i didn’t have my camera…i guess they didn’t have a proper breakfast like we did. thank you LPD!!

after brekkie checked out the clothing show! i picked up some cute necklaces from karin norstrom, and a pair of wikkid vintage sunglasses from promise to repeat. the vintage section is shrinking each time around which is so sad. not sure if it’s the organizers or the lack of applications?? i’ve had a booth consecutively from fall 2003 til fall 2007…fell off for a couple of years i think it’s about time sifted comes back fierce. i am thinking fall 2010 is the right time for us…so you have all been cordially invited WELL ahead of time. hope to see you all there!!

releases limited edition
Michael Jackson t-shirts
to pay tribute to the late Icon

As a tribute to Michael Jackson, designer Aileen Telesforo has come up with a limited edition t-shirt line showing love for the man and his music. Since Michael Jackson was only fifty years old when he died, only fifty pieces of each colour variation will be produced. The entire collection will have a total of 300 pieces, each with a personal touch from the designer, a hand-cut heart. Telesforo’s latest creations will be available August 29, 2009, which would have been Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday.

Aileen Telesforo could not believe the news of Michael Jackson’s passing on June 25th, 2009. She found it absolutely necessary to commemorate him the best way she knows how – through clothing. Drawing inspiration from elements of Michael Jackson’s famous “Thriller jacket” she came up with the prototype that night. The shirt was at first a personal project, but after positive feedback and requests, she realized this love for Michael Jackson must be shared.

Telesforo’s company, Sifted has been offering vintage clothing via eBay since 2003. Her online store, Sifted (www.sifted.ca) will officially launch along with the Michael Jackson tribute shirts on August 29th, 2009. The store will feature vintage clothing and accessories as well as one-of-a-kind items created by the designer. The limited edition shirts will be available that day through her online store as well as selected boutiques in Toronto.

Keeping with her love of vintage and the retro era (the late 70’s to the early 90’s), Aileen Telesforo has also started her own street fashion clothing label, Ama and Ina. This labour of love is inspired by her parents’ way of dress while she was growing up as a child. She has always admired their eclectic style, especially her mom, who is her muse. She often enjoys going through old photo albums as a way to recharge her spirit, get inspiration, and to poke fun at those silly moments as a young child. The full Ama and Ina collection will be launched for the Spring/Summer 2010 season.

nightmare on production street!

they ran into a big boo boo at the manufacturer when producing the limited edition MJ shirts for my clothing line, ama and ina. ..and one day before they’re supposed to have it all done? what a nightmare! everything is okay now, but with a one week and some odd day delay? not acceptable.

i had to sit down for this one..
